Slurry pumps are a class of centrifugal or submersible pumps designed to pump liquids containing solid particles, which may also contain solvents, acids, alcohols or petroleum. Slurry pumps are subject to additional wear and are generally stronger than other pumps.Centrifugal pumps operate by transferring rotational energy from one or more driving rotors, called impellers. The action of the impeller increases the velocity and pressure of the fluid and directs it to the pump outlet.
